ITINERARY
Day 1: Marrakech – Tagounite Departure toward the gateway of the desert. We cross the High Atlas and the Draa Valley. Dinner and overnight at our guest house, Les Palmeraies.
Day 2: Tagounite – The Forgotten Pass of Foum Rjam We leave Tagounite toward the limestone mountain of Jebel Beni Selman. We take the abandoned pass of Foum Rjam ("The Pass of the Tumuli"). We set up camp on a plateau surrounded by hundreds of prehistoric stone burial mounds.
Day 3: Exploring the Necropolis & Rock Art A day dedicated to the mystery of Foum Rjam. We will hike through miles of conical stone tumuli and search for the rare prehistoric rock paintings and engravings that survived time. A place where Jewish, Christian, and Almoravid legends collide.
Day 4: Toward Foum Tidri – Ancient Roots We move toward Foum Tidri, an ancient anchor for the Israelite civilization fleeing persecution. We explore the archaeological remains and learn about the multicultural history (Jewish and Muslim) of the region. Night under the stars.
Day 5: Tidri – The Sacred Tomb & The River Terrace Visit the tomb of the holy man Isaac Akkouim / Sidi Moussa. We will walk along the river terraces where, according to elders, the most impressive rock engravings once stood. We enjoy the silence of this sacred valley.
Day 6: Return to Tagounite We trek back toward the palm groves of Tagounite. A chance to process the mysteries discovered. Farewell dinner and overnight stay at the guest house.
Day 7: Tagounite – Marrakech Early breakfast and return journey to Marrakech, crossing the Atlas Mountains one last time.
