ITINERARY
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Tagounite
Departure from Marrakech toward Tagounite, the gateway to the desert. We will cross the High Atlas, Morocco's highest mountain range, and visit the historic Ait Benhaddou. The journey continues through Ouarzazate and the Draa Valley. Dinner and overnight stay at our guest house, Les Palmeraies.
Day 2: Into the Wild – Camel Trek & Wadi Naam
We cross the Oued Draa by camel (approx. 3 hours / 10 km) through a landscape of dunes and ancient tamarisk trees. After lunch in the shade, we may spot nomads with their herds. In the afternoon, we head to Wadi Naam, a nomadic meeting point at a desert well. Dinner and a night under the starry sky.
Day 3: The Great Dunes of Erg Chegaga
At 10:00 AM, we depart in a 4x4 across the Hamada (stone desert) to reach the Sacred Oasis for lunch under the palms. By 4:00 PM, we head to the "Sea of Sand"—the great dunes of Erg Chegaga, rising 300m high. Enjoy a traditional folk show and dinner, followed by a night in nomad tents.
Day 4: Desert Life & Tagounite Culture
After breakfast, we return to Tagounite by 4x4. After lunch, enjoy free time to explore the ancient Kasbahs of Tagounite or the Abuwauar dunes. Optional visit to a local hammam. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Return to Marrakech
Breakfast and departure toward Marrakech, marking the end of our adventure.
