ITINERARY
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Tagounite
Morning departure from Marrakech toward Tagounite. We cross the High Atlas Mountains and visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. The journey continues through Ouarzazate and the Draa Valley. Dinner and overnight stay at our traditional guest house, Les Palmeraies, located within a lush palm grove.
Day 2: Into the Wild Desert
After breakfast, we head into the deep desert. This first stage takes us into the wilderness, where we will set up our camp in the middle of nowhere.
Day 3: Oued Naam & The Art of Sand Bread
We trek toward Oued Naam, heading to El Bour for lunch. In the evening, we set up camp among the dunes near desert trees to gather wood for the fire. Tonight, we cook a traditional tagine and bake authentic bread in the sand.
Day 4: The Sacred Oasis & The Great Dunes of Chegaga
The final stage of our outbound journey leads us to the Sacred Oasis, a vital stop where a constant stream of water allows nomads to water their herds. We then reach the majestic Erg Chegaga (300m high). We will watch the sunset from the top of the highest dunes.
Day 5: The Return Journey – Bougarne Dunes
We begin our return route across the desert, setting up camp for the night among the beautiful dunes of Bougarne.
Day 6: The Hamada & Bertane
Today’s trek takes us across the hamada (stone desert) and shifting dune fields until we reach our campsite in Bertane.
Day 7: Erg Lihoudi
The final stage of the wild trek brings us back to Erg Lihoudi, where we will spend our last night under the desert stars.
Day 8: Tagounite – History & Relaxation
Transfer back to Tagounite. Enjoy free time to explore the ancient Kasbahs—a true walk through time—or visit the local hammam for a traditional scrub. Dinner and overnight stay at the guest house.
Day 9: Return to Marrakech
Breakfast and departure for the return trip to Marrakech.
