ITINERARY
Day 1: Marrakech – Tagounite
Morning departure from Marrakech toward Tagounite, the gateway to the desert. We cross the High Atlas, Morocco’s highest mountain range, and visit the World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. We continue through Ouarzazate and the Draa Valley. Dinner and overnight stay at our guest house, Les Palmeraies.
Day 2: Wild Desert – Oued Naam
Departure at 08:00 AM toward Erg Chegaga. After the first 3 hours of trekking, we enjoy lunch at Nkhal Race. At 03:00 PM, we head toward Oued Naam (2 hours of walking). We will set up camp and prepare dinner next to the beautiful dunes.
Day 3: Wild Desert – Crossing the Reg & Erg
We leave Oued Naam at 08:00 AM for a 3-hour trek across a vast dry lake (Reg). Lunch in Loitide. At 03:00 PM, we walk through a stunning dune field (Erg). Dinner and overnight camp.
Day 4: Wild Desert – The Sacred Oasis & Erg Chegaga
After breakfast, we cross an area of Hamada (stone desert) and have lunch at the Sacred Oasis. In the afternoon, we depart for the Erg Chegaga dunes—the largest and most extensive in the region (300m high and over 40km long). Overnight in nomad tents with a traditional evening meal.
Day 5: Wild Desert – The Return Trek
After breakfast, we depart Erg Chegaga to begin our return toward Tagounite. We will set up our camp "in the middle of nowhere" to enjoy a final night of wild silence.
Day 6: Wild Desert – Tagounite & The Kasbahs
After breakfast, the 4x4 will meet us to transfer the group back to Tagounite. Midday lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the ancient Kasbahs of Tagounite, a true walk through time. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Return to Marrakech
Breakfast and return journey to Marrakech.
